Plus 2 colleges closed nationwide

The All Nepal National Free Students Union Revolutionary (ANNFSU-R) has shut down the private ten plus two colleges across the nation for four days from Sunday.
According to Lekhanath Neupane, ANNFSU-R president they had called a peace protest programme, as the government had failed to address their 13-point demand that they had submitted through a memorandum. He added that the government should take the initiative to stop commercialisation of education in private Plus Two colleges and should provide options in case Proficiency Certificate Level is phased out.
Neupane also demanded that the government should raise the standards of the public Plus Two colleges and have sought an increase in the quota of teachers in higher secondary schools. He urged that the plus two colleges be run by the government. He stated that the Higher Secondary Board had refused to hold talks with them with the excuse that they are not the authorised body and also accused the Ministry of Education of being indifferent to their demands.
According to the ANNFSU, all private Plus Two colleges will be shut from September 13 to 16 and community higher secondary schools will be closed on September 15 and 16.
